USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17) and USS NEW YORK (LPD 21)

Team,
I want to share a few photos with you of USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17) as she’s steaming alongside USS NEW YORK (LPD 21) in the Virginia Capes operating area to complete the second half of her extensive sea trials period. She's focusing on shiphandling drills, combat systems testing, and increasing crew proficiency. Her crew is working hard and making steady progress towards our goal of returning her to unrestricted operations with the Fleet. These ships have immense capabilities that bring great flexibility and depth to the Navy-Marine Corps team.
All the best, JCHjr

I'm sure the Sailors aboard both these LPDs have worked extremely hard to make this moment possible. I say BRAVO ZULU to USS SAN ANTONIO and USS NEW YORK on your superb achievements! I'm proud of you ALL!!!

BZ!!!! What a great photo of LSD (X) and LCC (X). Keep the production line stable and build a generation of trained Sailors on this platform with plenty of service life. (The Southwest model of buying one model aircraft to simplify maintenance, training and logistics) Build a Flag configured version and give sea-craved 05s and 06s a viable salty career path. Combine PMS 317 (SCN) and PMS 400 (OMN) into one organization to manage the platform from ICD to decommissioning. Reinvest in the VLS capability up forward.

Thanks SAN ANTONIO AND NEW YORK Shipmates that are doing the heavy lifting to make this platform a deserved success story. Thanks Adm Harvey for your personal deckplate oversight!! We need you in the E-ring!

Anonymous, thanks very much for letting us know your Dad took these terrific pictures!
It takes a great deal of hard work and dedication to be a SAR Swimmer - they are a very special breed of Sailor and I'm very proud of them. All the best, JCHjr

And not a word for the repair activity that spent 18 months rebuilding those diesels that haven't worked right from day 1... Nor the rest of the ship that was worked on to get her to this point. It's nice to know you're appreciated.

Thanks for the post Admiral Harvey. I just saw you in person at PCU Minnesota SSN 783's Keel Authentication Ceremony. I was one of the BOD members of the Twin Cities Navy League Council to attend. Thanks for doing a great job introducing Ship's Sponsor Mrs. Roughead.

Only $300M to fix her, and word on the street is that LPD-22 is going to be LPD-17 part deux.
